Chesapeake Bay Bridge

Chesapeake Bay Bridge is a major dual-span bridge in the U.S. state of Maryland. Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, it connects the state's rural Eastern Shore region with the more urban Western Shore.
It is one of the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure of length of 6.9 km and was completed in 1973. There are two main spans over the bay's two shipping channels, 975 m suspension span over the western channel with a maximum clearance of 56.7 m high enough to accommodate ocean-going vessels and tall ships. A through-truss cantilever span over the eastern channel with a maximum clearance of 17.7 m.
